❓Your foodie personality is… (and other cool things)
Happy Friday!
Here are some things I found interesting, inspiring and just plain cool this week.
🎂 Millennial, 🧠 INTJ, 🔋 introvert, ♓ Pisces, 💛 Hufflepuff…
These are just a few personality types that could be used to describe me. Whether with Buzzfeed quizzes, astrology, political parties, fandoms, or enneagrams, humans LOVE classifying themselves.
There are so many reasons why we like to group ourselves. 💕 It creates a little community for us. 🤯 It gives us insight into who we are. 📱It is a low-stakes type of entertainment.
This week, I’ve been thinking a lot about personality quizzes because… have you guessed it yet?
I’m developing a personality quiz for MFC! 🤫
Our quiz will be a little bit of all of the above - a way to give insight into your approach to food with fun resources, community moments, and more. (I’m still planning the “more” part).
As I work on this, I’m returning to one of my favorite podcast episodes exploring the particular hold personality quizzes have over us.
I’ll share more about the quiz later on, but in the meantime, I hope you enjoy this podcast!
🧁 I’ve been watching a lot of Great British Bake Off recently. There’s something truly entrancing about watching people make sweet treats, especially when it is so cold outside. 🥶 There have been a lot of issues with the show over its tenure, from offensive themes and jokes to mediocre presenters, but the latest season has greatly improved and it has started to resurface as one of my favorite comfort TV shows.
🍒 Urban foraging - “You need to flip a switch in your mind to see the space around you differently.” I loved this article from Gastro Obscura and the questions it brings up about communal versus private space, food access, and learning about native plants.
🤣 Winter blues getting to you? ❄️ I’m not lovin’ the cold, so I have been watching my favorite standup comedians. Here’s a bit from Sarah Millican all about food! (Warning: curse words 🤭) P.S. I love her meal schedules!
Stay curious and stay inspired,
Rachel
